Hermanus Photographic Society’s September competition produced two striking architectural images, with Jane McMorran and Carina de Klerk claiming the honours.
McMorran won the Junior and Set Subject categories with Looking up in Zeitz MOCAA. Photographed on her mobile phone, the image showed that strong composition and observation can compete comfortably alongside images from conventional cameras.
The month’s set subject, Harmony of Steel, Stone and Glass, focused on architectural design and structure.
De Klerk won Senior and Image of the Month categories for Grand Pier, Weston-super-Mare, a monochrome study that combined the pier’s strong geometry with dramatic light and sky.
