Overstrand residents turned out in numbers to support e-waste recycling at collection points in Hermanus, Gansbaai and Kleinmond last week. This was organised by the municipality’s Environmental Management & Conservation team.
Public contributions help reduce pollution, recover valuable materials and keep hazardous waste out of landfill sites.
E-waste is one of the world’s fastest-growing waste streams and includes batteries, cables, and electronic devices.
Remember, disposable vapes and e-cigarettes contain batteries and electronic components that require responsible disposal. Never toss them into household bins because their lithium batteries can cause fires in refuse collection trucks and recycling facilities.
By recycling e-waste responsibly, residents can help protect the environment and reduce risks that are associated with hazardous waste.
