An integral part of the Hermanus legacy is in the historical homes dotted between the more modern developments. The historical section of Church Street reflects the above sentiment.
These properties are a joy to observe and appreciate, not only owing to the different historical and architectural styles they reflect, but also because the caring restoration and upkeep by the owners contribute, in no small measure, to the international standing of our charming town.
But among these are examples of neglect, leaving an eyesore of half-completed restoration left unattended for more than a year now, which reflect abandonment and decay.
This is a plea to the authorities to address the situation.
